1 onion chopped
3-4 tbsp olive oil
1 whole onion
1 large can Bush's Baked Beans (Vegetarian Style).
1 handful barley
2 handfuls wheatberries or unpealed wheat or gruenkern
5-6 potatoes, peeled & cut into large chunks
cholent meat on the bone

Saute the chopped onion in olive oil until lightly golden brown(this can be done
in a skillet or in the crock pot for a couple of hours on high before adding the
other ingredients). Add the beans, barley and wheatberries to the pot and stir
to mix together. Sprinkle generous amounts of all the spices, especially salt &
garlic-pepper. Add potatoes, whole onion, and meat and sprinkle more of each
spice. Squirt on Ketchup generously. Add kishka (sliced or whole). Add water
up to the level of the meat (cover, but not too much). Place crock-pot on low
and cook overnight. Will be ready for lunch on shabbas day.
